Benefits of Tyre Pressure Monitoring |
Unparalleled safety. Better fuel efficiency. Longer tyre life.
Maximum performance ... and you thought tyre pressure was just a
bunch of hot air. |
Convenience - Full-time tyre monitoring means you can check your tyre pressures
from the safety and comfort of the driver's seat. It also reduces
the possibility of time-consuming tyre repairs and ill-timed flats. |
TyresureTM tyre monitoring systems deliver the same benefits to
drivers whether they are behind the wheel of a passenger car,
a powerful off-road mining truck, or a high speed race car. |
Safety - Incorrect tyre pressures can compromise the stability of a
vehicle, its handling and braking and, in extreme cases, could
contribute to an accident. Also, most non-crash auto fatalities
occur while drivers are changing flat tyres. |
Fuel economy - Underinflated tyres are costing you money. According to the
Society of Automotive Engineers, a tyre with an inflation level
just two psi below the optimum level measurably increases fuel consumption. |
Protection - tyre monitoring protects against damage to expensive tyres and wheels. |
Performance - When tyre pressure is kept at proper levels, optimum vehicle
braking, steering, handling and stability are realized. |

A report in the Motoring Section of The Daily Telegraph for Saturday 26th June 1999
says that:
STATISTICS from Renault indicate that six per cent of all fatal motorway accidents in France are caused by the
sudden failure of under-inflated tyres. Even drivers who diligently check their tyre pressures
can be at risk. With Michelin, Renault has developed a technological solution: tyre pressure monitoring.
Other manufacturers have already introduced such systems, but the Renault-Michelin solution goes a stage further
than anything currently available, by alerting drivers to relatively low-level pressure loss.
(The TyresureTM system is similar - responding to as little as a 3PSI drop in pressure)
A central computer receives radio messages (coded for identification) from sensors built into the
tyre valves. Each time the ignition is switched on, a blue icon in the instrument panel
displays all four tyre pressures, with the message "Pressure OK" if all is well.
The indicator flashes on whenever pressure loss is detected. In the case of minor deflation, an
orange "Service" light is shown, indicating the faulty tyre. If the pressure is dangerously low,
a red "Stop" light flashes, accompanied by a punctures tyre icon, indicating that an
immediate wheel change is essential.
The system is clever enough to ignore pressure changes caused by ambient temperature, and has been
engineered from the outset to be simple and inexpensive. It is likely to appear first in
Renault's more expensive cars, but will soon filter down to the humblest Twingo,
initially as an extra cost option.

So Simple and Smart. |
The TyreSureTM Tyre Monitoring System is designed for: |
Passenger cars |
Minivans/people carriers |
Sport utility vehicles |
Commercial vehicles |
Off-road industrial equipment |
Trailers/caravans |
Recreational vehicles/motorhomes |
And more |
* Only systems for cars and light vans are currently available |
The system works on both conventional and run-flat tyres. |
With a TyresureTM monitor you can keep your tyres running at optimal
pressure, increasing their efficiency, reliability, performance
and your overall driving safety. |
The system, which uses wireless technology to monitor the air
pressure and temperature in your tyres, consists of: |
Wireless wheel-mounted sensors |
A display receiver mounted within sight and reach of the driver |
Each sensor contains: |
Pressure transducer |
Temperature transducer |
Radio transmitter |
Unique ID code |
Lithium battery |
One sensor is mounted on each wheel, and the tyre is then mounted
over the sensor enclosing the unit for protection from the elements. |
The interactive display module shows: |
Actual pressure of each tyre |
Actual temperature of each tyre |
and will warn if any tyre is substantially below or above normal pressure, within limits that can be preset |
The sensors are permanently switched on so will display the actual pressure whether stationary or in motion.
TyresureTM is virtually maintenance free. |
